Vyby is a free Mobile App, initially available to download on Android phones, providing the user with a ‘Mobile Guide to Derby’.

Every time the App is opened it refreshers, therefore users can always view the latest up to the minute offers and event information. Users are able to filter and sort offers and events by rating (vibe), distance or time. The rating shows the average rating (out of 5) that all other users have ranked a particular offer or event whereby distance shows users the closest offers to them based on their current location at any one time. For offers, then the time filter lists the most recently added offer first and for events it lists events in date and time order of when each event is taking place.

Derby has been chosen as the pilot City for Vyby, and boast are pleased to announce our involvement with Vyby, acting as Vyby’s Marketing Agency and tasked with generating interest and take up of the App from both an advertiser and user perspective.

In the Apps short existence so far, which saw it launch on Saturday 15th September, we’ve already seen over 100 people download the App and also have between 15 – 20 varied advertisers trialing the App by putting live their own offer and event information. These trial advertisers range from bars, clubs, coffee shops, music venues, restaurants, fast food outlets, plus a sports centre, cinema, art gallery as well as a hairdressers.

One of the key benefits from an advertisers point of view is that not only can they control themselves what messages go out and when, but they can also chose who sees their messages by being able to select from a number or demographic filters, including; sex, age and location, with the latter meaning that only users who open the App within a certain proximity to the location of the advertiser being able to see their message/s (e.g. within 2 miles).

This advanced targeting facility is far more beneficial than many traditional forms of marketing and means that advertisers can control who their offers or events are seen by and also pay just the once per customer / unique impression which we believe offers advertisers great value for money, again when compared to other forms of marketing and advertising.

Having control in what messages go out means advertisers can put their own message live in seconds, so if a bar is quiet one evening or a music venue still has tickets available for a gig that night means that such places can get the word out there so that prospective customers can then hear about this and act on in instantly.

To find more about Vyby then please visit the Vyby website and if you have an Android phone then why not download the Free App today by clicking here.

There is also a dedicated facebook page, which can be accessed here. With 175+ facebook followers already in just over two weeks, these followers can not only see a taste of some of the daily offers or events that appear via the App, though they can also check out the competitions that we have and continue to run offering some great prizes for very little effort, in most cases either just downloading or opening up the App to be in with a chance of winning.

At the time of writing, then this years Bloodstock music festival starts today! For those of you who don’t know anything about Bloodstock then it is the UK’s largest Heavy Metal festival, taking place annually at Catton Hall, which is situated about 7 miles southwest of Burton-on-Trent and running this year from Thursday 9th – Sunday 12th August.

Now in its 12th year, Bloodstock brings together the best acts in Heavy Metal from all over the World as well as upcoming bands, including bands who have won the right to perform at the festival through Bloodstocks ‘Metal to the Masses’ competition, held each year around the UK and across Europe.

Over the years, acts such as; Nightwish, Twisted Sister, Motorhead and W.A.S.P have amazed the strong and loyal following that the festival attracts year on year, with an amazing 66% of all attendees each year having attended the festival in previous years.

With the weather forecast looking encouraging and a forecasted crowd of well over 10,000 for this years festival weekend, headliners for 2012 include; Behemoth on the Friday evening, Machine Head on the Saturday and the one and only Alice Cooper on the Sunday evening.

Alice Cooper

For the second year running, boast are proud to announce that we will once again be working with the organisers of Derby Festé in looking for sponsorship for the upcoming festival, with the dates for this years festival being Thursday 20th – Saturday 22nd September.

Now in its sixth year, Derby Festé is an annual festival held in and around the streets of central Derby, bringing together an eclectic mix of world-class live cultural performances, music, film and much more, and is organised by the three leading arts organisations of Derby; QUAD, Deda and Derby LIVE.

Regarded by many as the highlight of Derby’s annual events calendar, the festival’s reputation continues to grow both locally and nationally and it’s worth adding that of the circa 35,000 attendees at last year’s festival, around a third of them traveled from outside of Derby.

The majority of acts and activities planned for this year’s Derby Festé will once again be based in and around the Catherdral Quarter, including the Cathedral Green and Market Place. This year will see the exciting French act of Luc Amoros and their ‘Page Blanche’ performance on both the Thursday and Friday evenings of Derby Festé on the Cathedral Green.

On the Saturday of Derby Festé there will once again be a whole range of acts performing throughout the daytime, in and around the city centre. Saturday evening will see the ‘Games Time’ performance on Darley Park between 7.00pm – 9.00pm before the first screening of ‘The Derby Soap Opera’ on the Cathedral Green from 9.30pm – 10.00pm before the finale being a two hour Jive / Swing Party in the Market Place between 9.00pm – 11.00pm.

Based on the popularity of the festival, the opportunities we have available through the festival are not only appealing in terms of attendee figures though are also coupled with the vast amount of media coverage and exposure the festival attracts locally and regionally each year too.

In addition to this, there is also strong goodwill and PR associated with being involved in such a festival, and the importance it has on the people of Derby. There are opportunities therefore for all kinds of companies to get on board in some shape or form and help contribute to the festival’s continued growth and success. Whilst we already have a couple of companies who are very close to committing to this year’s festival there is still plenty of scope to get involved.

If you’d like to find out more about the festival, then please do contact us as we’d love to hear from you. Alternatively, why not check out the following link which provides you with much more info and background to Derby Festé and the sponsorship opportunities which are available or could be created; Derby Festé 2012

Also, more information about this year’s festival and the acts that will be performing can be found via the official Derby Festé website.

http://www.derbyfeste.com/

Derby Festé also has an increasing facebook and Twitter following too, so what are you waiting for, check these out today to keep up to date on all things Derby Festé related.

This month ‘boast sponsorship’ is pleased to announce that we are working alongside Alfreton Town Football Club. Alfreton are launching the second phase of their Community Academy initiative – giving local young people the chance to gain sports leadership qualifications through a pioneering apprenticeship programme.

The Club, which was promoted last season to the Blue Square Bet Premiere Division, is working with Derby College to recruit the apprentices and support them through their qualifications.

Four apprentices recently started their programmes at Alfreton Town FC and recruitment has now started to recruit a further 20 apprentices.

The aim is to have up to 40 apprentices at the club in the next 12 months who will be working full time with local schools and community groups to provide free or low cost sporting activities for children and young people whilst working towards NVQ level three qualifications in Activity Leadership.

Alfreton Town Development Director John Glasby explained: “When we were promoted last season, we wanted to get the community more involved in the football club and for ourselves to become more involved in the community.

“We decided the best way was through setting up a Community Academy and have worked with Derby College who have done an excellent job recruiting the apprentices and organising the training.

“Although there are no guaranteed jobs for the apprentices at the end of the programme, these qualifications are designed to be extremely flexible for all sorts of industries – from sport and leisure to tourism and childcare

“There will also be opportunities for the apprentices to play football – combining their playing aspirations with their community work and vocational qualifications – the best of every world.”

Alfreton Town FC Apprentices

boast are committed to find financial support to enable it to expand the community scheme with plans in the pipeline to introduce pre and after school activities for local children. This scheme will give great exposure and interaction for the right brand and is a wonderful community scheme showing a brand’s Corporate social intentions.

Club chairman Wayne Bradley continued: “As one of the smallest clubs in the Conference premiere division, we are renowned for punching above our weight on the pitch and this ambition has been extended to the establishment and exciting plans for expanding our Community Academy.

“Our aim is to provide young people with qualifications that will make them extremely employable in a wide range of industries and to support the health and wellbeing of children in our local community through high quality coaching programmes – taking us right into the heart of Alfreton and surrounding area to make a positive difference to people’s lives.”

Among the current apprentices are Luke Crosby (19) from Ripley who has worked as a voluntary PE assistant since leaving Mill Hill School and is keen to work in sport after the apprenticeship.

Dan Roughton (18) from Alfreton is a volunteer coach for Alfreton Town juniors and saw the apprenticeship advertised in the paper.

“I have always been more interested in coaching than playing so this apprenticeship is ideal. I can’t wait to get going with the programmes in the local schools and supporting young people to get more active and learn new skills.”

Dan Hatfield (18) from South Normanton originally went to College after leaving Swanwick Hall School in Alfreton but had always wanted to get an apprenticeship.

“This is the best of both worlds – earning while we are learning and being part of a football club. My aim is to be a top coach.”

April Hayhurst, Head of Employer Engagement at Derby College, concluded: “Having recruited the first four apprentices for the Club, we are now working with the coaches and young people to start their formal qualifications which will be invaluable for their future working lives.

“We are starting recruitment for the next stage of 20 young people and are confident that we will be a great response from young people who will be keen to take advantage of this exciting and pioneering programme.”

For more information about this unique sponsorship opportunity please email us at AlfretonTownFCCA@boastsponsorship.co.uk

The name ‘Team 4mula’ may not be very well know at the moment, but they have recently made a large jump and splash into the world of Competition Skydiving. Again, not the most common sport in the UK or even the world but it has very dedicated participants of which Team 4mula are one of the best. I’m sure most people reading this will be asking how can falling to earth actually be a competitive sport? Well, 4mula are a 4-way formation team with a cameraman and have 35 seconds to form as many pre-drawn formations as possible. The team with the most points after 8 rounds, wins. You can see the team in action at http://www.team4mula.co.uk.

They recently won the British Nationals Rookie title by crowning themselves as best in the UK (see picture below), and the team are looking forward to another successful season in 2012 moving into the next category of competition single A. There are 4 categories in which teams can participate – Rookie, A, AA, AAA with AAA teams being professional and competing at International Level, a place 4mula aim to be at in a few years time. They have a long way to go, but are dedicated and focused enough to realise this ambition.

Now the dust has settled on a really great 2011 season, the team are about to regroup and prepare for the 2012 season and winning the Nationals. The lessons learnt from last season will be used to plan for the next, and everyone has committed their time and effort to being on the podium again next year.

Catching up with one of the team, they commented “Now the team are Champions, I want to do whatever I can to make it happen again which is really what everyone else is thinking. As long as we can maintain focused, plan and prepare as well as we did last season then we have a really good chance of winning again. Oh, and our coach sticks with us!” 4mula are coached by a multiple World Champion who has been there and got several T-shirts so believe they are in good hands.

The team are looking for commercial partners of all shapes and sizes for both next season and beyond. Airkix are they main sponsor currently and will be supporting the team once again with their tunnel training needs, but they do need additional sponsors, so please contact us to find out how you can join Team 4mula on what promises to be an exciting journey over the next few years.

boast are pleased to working with Jamie Moffatt and Aaron Nash on a project titled The Winter Project.

Jamie, who is starting to make a name for himself as a snowboarder and adventurer, and Aaron, a skilled documentary film maker looking to get an insiders view of the snowboarding industry, have collaborated to make The Winter Project, which is aimed at being a documentary film with a difference.

The Winter Project will take the audience closer to the story than ever before, following Jamie as he searches out the shots and sequences that will define his season. Aaron will be showcasing everything from getting partners on board right through to sending the film to the distributors. This film is not just a documentary about a sport, it covers the story of the athlete and what it takes to aim high.

The film will go into production in November 2011 and should be ready for distribution in late October 2012. It will be available globally through the project’s websites and social media channels, and for those who live in the UK and Europe, you should be able to watch the documentary on sky channel 281, which has an approximate viewer catchment of 32million.

boast are delighted to be working with both Jamie and Aaron in looking for sponsors and partners interested in playing a major role in their exciting plans over the next year and please do contact us for an open discussion on the types of flexible and innovative opportunities which can be created.

Based on the levels of sponsorship the project requires, we feel that it offers a fantastic opportunity for a number of different types of partners who may have a restricted budget available, and in return, they would be involved heavily in the success of a project which wants to work very closely with it partners in creating synergy for all associated.

At the time of writing, we’re just one week away from this years Derby Festé, and for those who live in the City of Derby, a real buzz is already forming at what promises to be an entertaining weekend for all concerned. To find out more about the festival and this years acts, then why not check the official Derby Festé website; www.derbyfeste.com

At boast it gives us great pleasure to, well, boast about the sponsors who are supporting this year’s festival, so in no particular order, here’s more information about them…

Although Mansion has been open for less than a year, they have already built up an impressive reputation, and it’s no surprise that they have recently been shortlisted for two categories in the Derby Food & Drink Awards, these being; “Best newcomer” and “Derby restaurant of the year” in addition to the “Best customer service” award.

Mansion prize themselves on providing a relaxed, contemporary fine dining & wine bar experience, which is all about high quality, great tasting food and drink, using the finest local ingredients. For more information visit Mansion’s website.

Through their association with this years festival, Mansion are offering a 20% discount off the food bill for any customers who either mention Derby Festé when booking or who bring in a copy of the festival programme, which displays this offer within.

When speaking with Mansion about their sponsorship of the festival they said; “We are over the moon to be supporting Derby Festé 2011. When we were approached to support the festival, we jumped at the opportunity. The event has been a huge success over the past few years and reflects on the city in an incredibly positive manner. As we are a relatively new business, it made total sense to align ourselves with Derby Festé. The festival and of course the people behind it represent all that’s best about Derby and we see ourselves emulating this with what we do at Mansion.

Derby deserves recognition for what it’s doing! Although there are thing happening in the City that many of us are not happy about right now, we at Mansion want to focus on as many positives as possible. Derby Festé is one such positive! It brings flare, colour and real vibrancy to the City. It’ll be a great event and we hope the run up creates a real sense of positive energy that we can all take advantage of!”

Birchover Hotel Apartments prize themselves on providing their customers with all the comfort of a luxury hotel, with the freedom of home. The apartments range from one to two-bedrooms across both of their two sites in Derby, these being at Darley Abbey and Allestree. Through their association with this years festival, Birchover are offering guests a 20% discount on their stay, so if you have any family or friends travelling to Derby for the festival then this is an offer not to miss and you can book your stay online via the Birchover website.

When speaking to Birchover Hotel Apartments about the festival, a spokesperson said; “We’re delighted to be supporting Derby Festé 2011. The festival is such a vibrant, energetic and colourful festival, and we, as a company, love to be associated with events that portray Derby in such a positive fashion. We are particularly looking forward to Sarruga, the Fire Garden and the Salsa events. It’s a great coup for Derby to be able to put on such a show and it’s great credit to the skill and hard work put in by everyone involved.

For us as a hotel, we might see an increase in business on that particular weekend, but, for us, it’s much more about supporting and being a part of the success of the festival”.

Pip Hare is an English single handed ocean racer with a growing reputation and high hopes for the future.

Pip’s current focus is on the Mini Transat which starts on Sunday 25th September and will see this year’s competitors head from La Rochelle to Salvador, Brazil, with a quick stopover in Funchal (Madeira) and covers well over 4,000 nautical miles, taking around 4 weeks to complete.

Pip’s boat for the Mini Transat is 21 foot in length and is named “The Potting Shed”. As the boats are the smallest type of off-shore racing boats, the race makes for interesting viewing and it’s expected that around 250,000 people will pass through the race village in La Rochelle prior to the start of the race.

Pip is one of only two Brits taking part and one of just six women (see link below) out of the 80 solo sailors who are competing…

Daily Sail Article

In recent years, Pip became the first ever person to finish the OSTAR in 2009 after a rigging failure and in 2010 she won the two-handed Round Briton and Ireland race.

Following completion of the Mini Transat, Pip’s ambitions over the next few years includes the following:

In 2012 compete in the AGR2 and two-star (double handed transatlantic races)

In 2013 compete in single handed global ocean race (40 foot boats)

In 2016 compete in the Vendée Globe, which is the ultimate in single-handed racing; round the world non-stop in 60ft high performance boats

In addition to competing, Pip writes a number of regular articles and blogs for Yachting World (which has a magazine circulation of 21,000 and 33,500 unique online readers, both per month), as well as an active following through social media and is a writer and presenter, with a number of sailing video’s which have already been filmed due to be rolled out from early 2012 onwards.

In addition, Pip also works alongside Brian Thompson as a founder and coach of Britain’s first solo sailing centre in Gosport. Pip is extremely hard-working and dedicated to achieving her goals, is confident and out-going and is a natural communicator.

boast are delighted to be working with Pip in looking for sponsors and partners interested in joining Pip on her exciting journey over the next few years. Please contact us for an open discussion on the types of opportunities which can be created through Pip, to not only maximise your involvement, but to also go through the value and benefits you would gain through your association.

With the Mini Transat starting very soon, we will be keeping a close eye on Pip’s progress via the official race tracker, so please make sure you’re following us via our own facebook page to keep track of Pip’s progress in the race.

boast sponsorship are proud to be working with the organisers of Derby Festé, which this year takes place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th September 2011.

Now in its fifth year, Derby Festé is an annual festival held in and around the streets of Central Derby, bringing together an eclectic mix of world-class live cultural performances, music, film and much more, organised by three of Derby’s leading arts organisations; QUAD, Dedá and Derby LIVE.

During its relatively short existence so far, the festival has build a strong regional and national reputation as being one of the biggest and best weekends of its kind in the entire UK. The majority of the festival and what it has on offer is free to the general public and is regarded by many as the highlight of Derby’s annual event calendar.

Most of the acts and activities of Derby Festé is centred around the City’s Cathedral Quarter, which for those of you who don’t already know, is in an area that we at boast sponsorship call home. It’s important to us as a company to support local projects, events and festivals as best we can, and this is no different.

Based on the popularity of the festival (circa 35,000 attended last years Derby Festé over the course of the weekend), the opportunities we have available through the festival are not only appealing in terms of such attendee figures, though this coupled with the vast amount of media coverage and exposure the festival attracts locally and regionally each year too.

In addition to this, there is also strong goodwill and PR associated with being involved in such a festival like this, and the importance it has on the people of Derby. There is therefore real opportunity for all kinds of companies to get on board in some shape or form and feel like a major player in the festival’s continued growth and success.

We already have a couple of companies who are very close to committing to this year’s festival though there is still plenty of scope to get involved, though time is running out. Therefore, if you’d like to find out more about the festival, then please do contact us as we’d love to hear from you. Alternatively, then why not check out the PDF link below which provides you with much more info about Derby Festé and background to the festival.

Derby Festé 2011

Also, more information about this year’s festival and the acts who will be performing can be found via the official Derby Festé website:www.derbyfeste.com. Derby Festé also has an increasing facebook and Twitter following too, so what you waiting for, check these out today!

Finally, we want you to know that we do have a wide range of other local opportunities at boast, if, for whatever reason, Derby Festé isn’t your cup of tea. This is in addition to all of the other regional, national and international opportunities which we have available, so please do contact us to find out more…

boast have teamed up with the organisers of the UK Corporate Games, who, over the past 18 years have created Europe’s largest corporate multi-sport festival. The 2011 games present a vast and varied range of both participation and / or sponsorship opportunities for companies.

Last years festival in Liverpool saw over 4,000 competitors from more than 100 different companies take part, with this years festival taking place at Loughborough University between Thursday 14th – Sunday 17th July 2011. With just under two months to go (at the time of writing), it’s already looking very likely that this years game will easily beat last years competitor numbers.

The facilities at Loughborough are second to none, and it’s no surprise that the University will be the official training camp for the 2012 Great Britain Olympic Team. Based on its central location and excellent transport access, the games being held in Loughborough is well placed for any national company interested in being a part of the games and not just for those who are predominantly Midlands based.

The games consist of 22 different sports, such as; football, rugby, cricket, hockey, golf, running, swimming, a number of racket sports as well as a couple of more diverse sports and events such as; dragon boat racing, karting, tenpin bowling and poker.

Whilst the following video highlights the world phenomenon of the Corporate Games it does provide a great flavour for what the UK games are all about….

Corporate Games Video

Companies who have already signed-up for this years games include; Vodafone, Barclaycard, Coca Cola, IBM, Fujitsu, Ernst & Young, KPMG, ASDA, John Lewis, Unilever, Deloitte, Intel, Accenture, PWC, Nabarro, Nationwide Building Society, RWE npower, Denplan, QVC, CSC, London 2012 Olympic Organising Committee, Co-operative Financial Services and the Lloyds Banking Group.

Corporate Games

Although many of these companies are large multi-nationals, there are no restrictions on the size of a team, with previous entrants ranging from 1 person to over 200+, with clients, friends and family all welcome to join employees taking part in the games.

The games present the opportunity for businesses to:
– Build team spirit.
– Create togetherness by integrating staff at all levels.
– Enhance the brand awareness of a company and the products / services it offers.
– Reach new clients, create new business, meet new customers and make new contacts and friends (multiple B2B and B2C opportunities).
– Network on a large and varied scale.
– Create or enhance a wellbeing / fitness programme within a company.
– Invest in a company’s number one asset…..your people!

In terms of sponsorship opportunities, and for companies keen on participating at the games too, tailored packages can be created which provide not only the best value for money but also the type and level of exposure you may be looking for through the games.

If you are a company who are a fairly active bunch and like the sound of what you’ve read so far then please do contact us as we’d love to talk further with you about the benefits the games can create for you, your company and of course your people.
